Madrasatul Furqaan

Madrasatul Furqaan is an Islamic academic institution that provides Islamic education for the Muslim community of Houghton and Surrounding areas..

The Madrasah operates in the afternoon hours of the week. The education of the children begins with basic Qur’aanic learning from the age of six. As they progress through the different stages in the Madrasah, the students develop their Qur’aan reciting skills and also get the opportunity to learn about the blessed life of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasalaam) and learn about Islamic Fiqh and more.

  • Recitation of the Holy Qur’aan and memorisation of Surahs
  • Detailed study of Islamic Fiqh
  • Study of Seerah of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasalaam)
  • Study of Islamic belief (Aqaaid)
  • Guidance on Islamic manners, morals and etiquettes

Hifz Class

The Masjid also provides a Hifz class for school-going students who wish to memorise the Holy Qur‘ān. Times are Monday to Saturday 04h40 to 06h10 in the early hours, then 16h15 to 19h15 in the evening. Those students wanting to do the full-time course will benefit from an additional 3 hours in the morning from 07h30 to 10h30.

We are continuously trying to develop our Madrasah and syllabus in order to provide the best Islamic education possible for our community, keeping in mind the needs of the day and the rapid rate of the progression of technology.
